Spring Wood, Liver Wood

Adapting to the spring energy is to nourish the vitality of the whole year. Nourishing the liver does not need to be complicated, just sleeping right, eating right, and having a broad heart are enough.

When spring arrives, do you also have this experience: even though you have slept enough, you still feel sleepy; Emotions are prone to fluctuations; My appetite is not very good. If you think it's just affectation, it's actually because your body hasn't kept up with the "wooden qi" of spring.

Between heaven and earth, spring belongs to wood. Wood is called curved and straight, which is the energy for growth, growth, and development. Ice and snow have melted, plants and trees are sprouting, and everything is' upward '; And the liver, which is one of the five organs in the human body, also belongs to wood.

Spring is the 'home field' of the liver. Following the spring is following the trend; Going against the spring tide is like sailing against the current.

1、 The Spring "Daily Schedule" in the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon

Two thousand years ago, the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, Su Wen, and the Great Treatise on Regulating the Four Qi and Regulating the Spirit had already explained the concept of spring health: in the third month of spring, this is called 'fa chen'. Heaven and earth are born, and all things are proud. They lie down at night and wake up early, walk wide in the courtyard, and be gently shaped to stimulate their will. When they are born, do not kill, give but do not take away, reward but do not punish. This is the response of spring qi and the way to nourish life. If it is reversed, it will damage the liver. In summer, it will become cold, and there will be fewer elders.

Summary in one sentence:

Spring should bring forth new things, relax the body and mind, and harmonize the yang energy. Otherwise, there will be hidden dangers in summer.

2、 Wood generates fire: Nourishing the liver in spring is the foundation for year-round health

There is a key logic hidden in the Five Elements: the liver belongs to wood, the heart belongs to fire, and wood generates fire.

In spring, it is necessary to nourish and regulate the liver qi in order to generate sufficient heart fire and lay the foundation for the growth of yang qi in summer.

In spring, liver qi stagnation and excessive liver fire can lead to insufficient qi and blood, coldness, physical weakness, and mental distress in summer.

So nourishing the liver in spring is never just a temporary adjustment, but a foundation for a healthy whole year.

3、 To nourish the liver in spring, doing these four things well is enough

1. Daily life: Sleep well and take a nap at noon

Falling asleep before 23:00 at night, during the hour of midnight, the liver blood flows back and the repair efficiency is highest.

Take a 10-20 minute nap from 11:00 to 13:00 at noon to quickly replenish yang.

Spring fatigue is not laziness, it is the body's response to the rising yang energy of heaven and earth.

2. Emotions: less anger, more joy, liver qi naturally follows, liver governs anger, anger and suffocation are the most harmful to the liver.

In spring, the liver qi is already strong, and if you suppress or lose your temper, it is easy for the liver qi to become stagnant and turn into fire, which can harm the body. Go out for a walk and bask in the sun more often. When your heart opens up, your liver qi naturally becomes clear. A relaxed mood is the best way to soothe the liver.

3. Diet: reduce acidity and increase sweetness to nourish the temperament

The Medicine King Sun Simiao once said, "In spring, on the 72nd day, we should reduce acidity and increase sweetness to nourish our temperament

Eat less sour taste (hawthorn, black plum, etc.) to avoid excessive liver qi and spleen damage.

Eat more sweet, light and peaceful foods: yam, red dates, beans, black rice, oats, honey.

In early spring, it's cold: drinking ginger jujube tea to warm up and protect the spleen.

Qingming to Heat: Brewing tea with summer dry grass, mint, and white chrysanthemum to clear the liver and improve eyesight
